All-women shortlists - that's fair (not)

Updated: Jul 17, 2021

True to her feminist form, Nicola Sturgeon and the SNP are using an all-women shortlist to ensure only women can stand for election when Maureen Watt retires from Holyrood in 2021.

Maureen Watt is currently the MSP for Aberdeen South and North Kincardine.

Does anybody really believe that is fair (apart form feminists)?

It's the irony of it all that kills me.

Feminists don't like the idea that there are more men in parliament because, allegedly, men have historically held women back from becoming MSPs. Men have allegedly sexually discriminated against women.

So the solution to this is to be sexually discriminatory against men, and not let them stand for election.

Whatever discrimination men had against women in the past, if there ever was any (a debatable point for sure), it was certainly never as blatantly discriminatory as to prevent women from standing.

That's the trouble with trying to resolve discrimination. It usually involves simply discriminating against someone else.

And that's the trouble with Nicola Sturgeon. An absolute tyrant if there ever was one. Someone who abuses her power to drive through her deviant, irrational obsessions.

A fascist if ever there was one.
